Competition registration opens October 1st! 

It will also be possible to register for competitions at The Snowball if space is available. However, please note that if you have not signed up for The Snowball, you won’t be able to pre-register for the competitions.

Registration alone does not guarantee a spot in the competition. Payment must be made in cash at the comp desk during its opening hours.

 

For divisions where competitors select their own music, it must be submitted as a high-quality, one-track digital audio file at least one day before the competition.

Champions Cup Sweden (Strictly Lindy)

The Champion’s Cup is one of the most prestigious competitions in the Lindy Hop community. It will take place at Savoy Cup, April 23–26, 2025, in Montpellier. The top two placements of the Champions Cup Sweden qualifier will be directly qualified for the Champions Cup in Montpellier.

Format:

  • Semi-finals: Battle format. Couples dance a full chorus each at around 170 bpm.

  • Finals: Jam format, either 8x8 or 12x8, at around 200 bpm.

Judging: Partnership, technique, and musicality. Choreographed elements and air steps are allowed, but only rewarded if done musically.

Entry fee: €30 per couple
Awards: €400 to the winning couple

Prelims: Dec 28th. Finals: Dec 29th
 

Lindy Hop Mix & Match Amateur

Leaders and followers sign up individually. Partners are chosen at random.

Format:

  • Prelims: Dance with more than one partner at different tempos.

  • Finals: Selected individuals compete. You will be judged as individuals.

Eligibility: Open to less experienced dancers who haven’t competed much or reached Mix & Match finals before.

Judging: Technique, flow, musicality, and partnership. Judges will especially look for your ability to make your partner shine.

Note: You may only sign up for one Lindy Mix & Match competition, unless you register in two different roles.

Entry fee: €20 per person
Awards: €100 each to the winning dancers

Prelims: Dec 27th. Finals: Dec 28th
 

Lindy Hop Mix & Match Advanced

  • Prelims: Dance with more than one partner at different tempos.

  • Finals: Selected individuals compete. You will be judged as individuals.

An invitational Strictly competition open to dancers selected by the organizers.

Judging: Couples will be judged by the competitors themselves.

Awards: €400 to the winning couple

Balboa Mix & Match Amateur

Balboa Strictly

Open to couples of all levels.

Format:

  • Prelims: Couples dance Pure Balboa and Bal-Swing to a variety of tempos.

  • Finals: Knock-out battle format on the evenings of December 27th, 28th, and 29th.

Judging: Partnership, flow, musicality, technique, and performance skills. Aerials, lifts, and choreographed elements are allowed.

Entry fee: €30 per couple
Awards: €400 to the winning couple

Balboa Invitational Mix & Match

An invitational Mix & Match competition open to dancers selected by the organizers. Partners are chosen at random.

The Minute Challenge

Perform a showcase of up to 60 seconds in any swing-related style: Lindy Hop, Collegiate Shag, Saint Louis Shag, Balboa, Charleston, Burlesque, Tap, Solo Jazz, Blues, etc. Both solo and team performances are encouraged.

Format:

  • Prelims: Judges select showcases for the finals.

  • Finals: Maximum 60 seconds per showcase.

Rules:

  • Multiple entries are allowed.

  • Submit music (high-quality mp3, cut or faded before 60 seconds) to DJ@thesnowball.se by December 26th, subject line: “The Minute Challenge”.

Entry fee: €30 per showcase
Awards: €200 to the winning showcase

Finals: Dec 30th
 

Authentic Jazz / Charleston

A traditional solo vernacular Jazz/Charleston contest. Sign up individually.

Format: Dancing may include vernacular jazz steps, Charleston, black bottom, soft-shoe, tap, etc. Individuals will be selected by the judges for the finals.

Entry fee: €20 per person
Awards: €150 to the winner

Prelims: Dec 28th. Finals: Dec 29th
 

Blues Invitational Mix & Match

An invitational Mix & Match competition open to dancers selected by the organizers. Partners are paired at random.

Judging: Couples will be judged to a variety of Blues music.

Entry fee: None
Awards: €200 each to the winning dancers
Finals: Dec 29th
 

Blues Mix & Match

Leaders and followers sign up individually. Partners are chosen at random.

Format:

  • Prelims: Dance with more than one partner to a variety of Blues music.

  • Finals: Selected dancers compete as couples.

Judging: Technique, flow, musicality, and partnership. Judges will especially look for your ability to make your partner shine.

Entry fee: €20 per person
Awards: €100 each to the winning dancers

The Blizzard

Open to Swing dancers of all levels and styles.

Format:

  • No pre-registration. Finalists will be tapped in during the event.

  • Open to couples or solo dancers.

  • Held late at night in the main ballroom. Expect fast music!

Judging: Drive, attitude, creativity, ability to fly high or low, and overall crowd appeal.

Awards: Honor

Prelims and finals: Dec 30th

 

Frostbite Shag Fight

A late-night Collegiate Shag competition. Enter as a couple.

Format:

  • No pre-registration. Finalists will be tapped in during the event.

  • Held late at night in the Balboa ballroom
